About VMCH
VMCH innovative café, supporting people with disability to grow their job skills and independence requires a Disability Support Worker with hospitality experience to support and train clients. Located in Nunawading in a fantastic environment our café aims to help people build skills and gain experience in a real-life working environment, on their pathway to finding paid employment.
Trainees will be supported by hospitality and disability support workers in serving customers great coffee and food.
About the role
As a Café Disability Support Worker (DSW), you will provide hands-on mentoring to participants in the program to build their self-confidence, barista, food preparation and customer service skills and employability qualities. This position will ultimately support NDIS participants develop their personal & professional skills that will improve their independence and opportunities for securing employment.
This is a casual position, covering opening hours of 7.00am - 3.00pm.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for either a qualified DSW or hospitality professional to grow into another industry while continuing to support individuals with a disability.
About you
You will be an experienced Disability Support Worker, along with your disability expertise, you will have customer service and barista experience within the hospitality industry.
Skills, experience & requirements
- Experience in the hospitality and/or disability sector
- Certificate IV Disability or similar
- Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Outstanding Customer service skills
- Great communication, organisation and time management skills
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children’s Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
