About the Role
VMCH Disability Services has been interested in finding innovative ways to support people with a disability for building skills, experience and learning to support them on their pathway to independence.
We are opening a new café based on-site at our Retirement Aged Care Facility Star of the Sea (SOTS) in picturesque Torquay. This is an amazing opportunity to come in at the ground level and really make your mark.
Our ideal person will help set-up the café, co-ordinate and inspire our team of café staff & Disability Support Workers to provide and deliver the highest levels of customer and hospitality service at our Pathways to Possibilities Learning Hub Café.
As a Café Coordinator you will be responsible to hire new staff, train & develop your team, and support the daily operations of the café to be a central place for good coffee – all while helping your local community live more independent lives.
You will have strong local community connections and networks to engage and enlist NDIS participants to join the program. Furthermore, you will also supervise and provide hands-on mentoring to young people participating in our trainee program to build their self-confidence, barista and customer service skills and employability qualities. This position will ultimately support NDIS participants develop their personal & professional skills that will improve their independence and chances of securing employment.
An incredibly rewarding opportunity for a hospitality professional to grow into another industry while continuing to support individuals with a disability.
