About the role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager (residential Aged Care) and the Retirement Living Project Manager , you will have the opportunity to showcase your initiative and proactive approach to maintenance while tending to VMCH properties located in Prahran, Toorak and Camberwell. You will be responsible for ensuring the presentation and condition of all buildings are maintained in line with safety and accreditation standards.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing long term and annual property maintenance schedules and capital works programs
• Ensuring that all VMCH facilities meet a range of accreditation, regulatory compliance and site resident and staff requirements
• Undertaking proactive preventative maintenance projects
• Engaging and managing contractors, ensuring that they are registered and current on Linksafe
• Manage monthly scheduled maintenance contractors and associated paperwork.
• Risk management and hazard mitigation responsibilities
• Liaise with site manager and manage day to day site generated maintenance requests.
• Conducting audits and inspections in conjunction with the Facilities Manager and site manager.

Position requirements

• Previous experience in a hands-on maintenance role within an aged care setting
• The ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
• A proven track record of providing exceptional customer service
• A proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that VMCH properties are always maintained to an excellent standard
• The ability to work autonomously and manage a wide range of projects within agreed timeframes
• Strong literacy and computer skills to complete accurate and appropriate documentation of maintenance activities
• An outstanding work ethic and the ability to prioritise effectively
• Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
