It’s time to kickstart your career as a carer with the VMCH Traineeship Program.

We’re looking for compassionate individuals who love to support people and want to make a positive difference to a person’s life.

If you don’t have any work experience, but you want a career in the aged care or disability industry as a Personal Care Assistant, Disability Support Worker or Community Support Assistant – this program is for you.

About the VMCH Traineeship Program

We’re committed to helping you grow. 

The traineeship program runs for 12 months, and combines first-class training at ITFE with real on-the-job experience working at VMCH, in a role which suits your interests and career aspirations.

VMCH will pay for your Certificate III in Individual Support at ITFE, and you’ll receive the wage equivalent to a fully-qualified support worker. The only out-of-pocket costs you will have, will be suitable clothing or a VMCH uniform.

Learn, work and get paid

VMCH will provide you with:

  • A 12-month course delivered by a Registered Training Organisation - including theoretical and practical learning and assessments.
  • Support from your education provider to help you complete your course and ensure a great learning experience.
  • A mentor to help you along the way, via an internal VMCH buddy program.
  • VMCH orientation and induction delivered by our friendly learning and development team.
  • An additional short-term ‘buddy program’ with a VMCH lifestyle and leisure mentor at one of our services.
  • The opportunity to rotate to different VMCH sites and services, so you can see how a range of people and teams work (where applicable).
  • Ongoing support from the VMCH learning and development team, site managers and trainers.
  • A professional development session with VMCH.

Career pathways

The VMCH Traineeship Program is your pathway into a professional career in the health care sector. Once you have completed the program, you may wish to continue your studies, and complete a Diploma of Nursing, or a Bachelor of Nursing.  

The VMCH Traineeship Program will set you up for success, with the potential to secure an ongoing, permanent role with VMCH, once you’ve graduated.

About you

We're looking for empathetic, compassionate and caring individuals that are passionate about aged care and disability services.

If this sounds like you, and you can answer 'yes' to the following questions, then we'd love to hear from you.

  • Have not received a certificate 3 or higher qualification
  • Current Australian or New Zealend resident
  • Be available to work full time or part time with VMCH
