Your next role is more than just a job.

So – why should you want to work for VMCH?

We think we are a great place to work, and if you read our staff testimonials, you’ll see our people agree too.

Working at VMCH is more than just a job, if you work with us, you’ll be part of an organisation which cares about its people. As a not-for-profit provider, we are not only committed to making the lives of our clients and residents better, but also our staff.

Salary Packaging

As a not-for-profit we offer our employees salary packaging with Maxxia.

Salary packaging allows you to pay for certain everyday expenses from your salary, before tax. This means you pay less tax and can increase your disposable income.

You can salary package up to the allowable maximum amount of approximately $15,900 each FBT year.

Flexibility

We value work-life balance and know that work is only one part of your life.

Flexibility will mean different things for different people and for the varied roles offered at VMCH. This could be flexible hours, flexible working days, working from home arrangements or job sharing.

We have a comprehensive policy to support flexible work requests, which take into account the many varied roles we have at VMCH.

Employee Assistance Program

Your wellbeing is so important to us, that’s why we offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

This free and confidential counselling support is available 24-hours, seven days a week. It doesn’t matter if it’s work or personal related, we’ve got your back.

Paid Parental Leave

Congratulations on your new child! Parents, if eligible, can apply for paid and/or unpaid parental leave associated with the birth or adoption of a child.

PRAISE program and service awards

Everyone deserves to be acknowledged for their hard work! Our PRAISE program gives staff and volunteers the opportunity to nominate their peers who go above and beyond in their roles, and whose actions reflect our values.

On-the-spot, monthly and annual voucher prizes are awarded.

We also recognise our employees for their valued contributions every year, with VMCH service awards. Employees receive packs containing service badges, vouchers, certificates, and a letter for each recipient.

We are such a great place to work, but don’t just take our word for it. We had over 250 of our staff members receive awards for length of service with VMCH in 2021. This included 147 people who have worked with us for 5 years, 64 for 10 years, 42 people for 15 years, 6 for 20 years, 3 for 25 years and one person for an amazing 30 years.

The VMCH Way

We are a large, diverse organisation with over 2,500 people working at over 50 sites throughout Victoria or based in the community, working in people’s homes or at home.

So, although we may not be together physically, we focus on what makes us VMCH and the things we share as a workforce; one that supports some of our community’s most vulnerable people.

We call this The VMCH Way, what it means to work at VMCH, our shared understanding of what we do really well and how can we make our workplace even better, together.

Learning and development

We don’t like to rest on our laurels, and we’re always looking to help our staff to learn more, or develop their skills.

Our Learning and Organisational Development team regularly develop different training opportunities for staff, which are interactive and online, for you to complete when it suits you.

We are also one of six leading disability and aged care providers to join the pilot program, Higher Apprenticeship Initiative developed by RMIT University and the Future Social Service Institute (FSSI).

The Higher Apprenticeship Initiative is unlike traditional apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships are aimed at more experienced workers, giving them the opportunity to learn on the job and develop their leadership skills at the same time.

Kristy, VMCH staff member, has just completed her Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management as part of this program.

“It made me feel like a valued employee, being given the opportunity to be able to apply and be considered to develop my professional practice. This course will help me obtain career progression, as these days you require qualifications as well as experience to advance in your career. Now I feel I have both, so it is a matter of developing upon my skills with further experience to propel me towards career growth in the future.”
