About the role

We currently have a requirement for a Chef at our Luxury Retirement Living property based in Hawthorn.  This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, providing lunches, dinners and take-home meal packs for residents and their guests  

About you 

To be successful in this role you will be experienced in delivering outstanding meals and service to our customers.  Working closely with the Retirement Living Manager and a small team of hospitality staff, you'll lead the kitchen to success by providing catering & hospitality services that exceed the expectations of all residents.

 You will be an excellent communicator developing a positive rapport with guests to exceed their expectations while ensuring efficient kitchen operations.   You will be experienced in developing exciting menus, responsible for food safety standards and maintaining ingredient supplies.   Most importantly, you'll have a passion for food and delivering an exemplary standard of service!

The shifts for this position are Wednesday and Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm Monday and Thursday 3.00pm – 9.00pm.  Additional hours maybe required to cater for events. 

Skills and Experience

• Service excellence around all aspects of the dining experience
• Strong front of house presence including communication with residents
• Provide leadership and guidance to the hospitality staff
• Managing the kitchen compliance including food safety, WHS and quality
• Willingness to lead the hospitality team to continually improve the catering experience
• Experience in Production and delivery of high-quality meals including lunches, dinners and take-home packaged meals
• Qualification (Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery) and/or extensive experience working as a Chef
• Excellent Menu Planning, Stock Control and ordering, kitchen and food cost management
