About the role 

The Chef Manager is accountable for the daily operations of the kitchen and is required to lead an effective, and efficient team of food services staff and to effectively work with the Residential Services Manager, staff, residents and their families. 

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, you will:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations in a warm, community‑focused environment
  • Lead, mentor, and roster a team of cooks and kitchen assistants
  • Plan and deliver seasonal menus aligned with dietary needs, cultural preferences, and clinical requirements
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, aged‑care regulations, and organisational policies
  • Manage ordering, stock control, and cost‑effective budgeting
  • Collaborate with clinical and lifestyle teams to create an exceptional dining experience

Skills & experience

  • Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or higher
  • Food Safety Supervisor Training (Health & Community) - HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007
  • Proven experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or similar leadership role
  • Strong understanding of modified diets, allergies, and nutrition for older adults
  • Excellent communication and team‑building skills
  • A commitment to person‑centred care and respect for older people
  • Knowledge of food safety legislation and HACCP principles
