About the role

The role of the Employment Mentor is to provide support and guidance to people with a disability as they build their skills, work toward their employment goals and learn their new role in their workplace.  This role will involve job skills improvement, coaching and mentoring individuals by working collaboratively with employers.  Based in the Seymour area, you will report to the Team Leader of Employment Pathways at VMCH.

About you

You will be a passionate and experienced worker who enjoys mentoring and developing people so they can gain employment. 

  • Lived experience, skills and qualifications in one or more industries- hospitality, administration, retail, garden maintenance, trades etc.
  • Ability to mentor, coach and support people with a disability in employment and develop employment skills.
  • Capacity to break down job tasks and mentor individuals to learn on the job.
  • Experience in work readiness programs is desirable.
  • Have a high level of communication skills both verbal and written.
