About the role

We are looking for experienced enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated Hairdresser to provide a range of hairdressing services, including haircuts, styling and treatments with a focus on meeting the unique needs and preferences of elderly individuals. This role aims to foster a sense of dignity, comfort, and personal satisfaction among residents by ensuring that they feel valued and well-cared-for. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, empathy, and a genuine interest in the needs of the elderly.

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will:

  • Provide a range of hairstyling services including haircuts, trims, and styling tailored to individual preferences and needs of the residents.
  • Conduct one-on-one consultations with residents to understand their desired styles and provide recommendations based on their preferences, hair types, and any special needs.
  • Utilise appropriate hair care products and tools to maintain hair health and hygiene, and ensure products used are suitable for sensitive skin and scalp conditions commonly found in elderly individuals.
  • Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols, including sanitising tools and equipment, and maintaining a clean workspace to ensure the well-being of residents.
  • Show empathy and patience while interacting with residents, creating a positive and relaxing environment during their grooming sessions.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including nursing and support staff, to accommodate residents’ schedules and any specific care requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, including any specific preferences or notes relevant to the resident’s care.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends

About you 

  • Relevant hairdressing qualification and license/certification.
  • Proven experience as a hairstylist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, patient, and respectful.
  • Able to work sensitively with elderly residents, including those with physical or cognitive impairments.
  • Skill in managing a range of hair types and styles, including those adapted for aging hair and scalp conditions.
  • Capable to stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • • Flexibility to accommodate varying resident needs and preferences.
