About the role

We are looking for experienced enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated Personal Trainer to support residents to participate in fitness training and understanding of elderly clients' physical and emotional needs to create effective fitness routines. This role involves collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of safety and effectiveness in all fitness activities.

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will be

• Conduct fitness assessments and create personalised exercise plans based on each resident's needs, goals, and physical capabilities.
• Develop and implement exercise programs that focus on improving strength, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular health.
• Lead group exercise classes tailored to varying levels of fitness and ability.
• Ensure all exercises are performed safely and monitor residents for any signs of discomfort or health issues during sessions.
• Work with healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to integrate fitness programs with overall care plans.
• Educate residents and staff on the benefits of regular physical activity and proper exercise techniques.
• Provide encouragement and support to help residents achieve their fitness goals and maintain a positive attitude towards exercise.
• Maintain accurate records of each resident's progress and adjust exercise programs as needed.
• Ensure all fitness activities comply with health and safety regulations and facility policies.

Requirements

• Certified Personal Trainer with a recognised qualification
• Proven experience in fitness training, preferably with elderly or special needs populations
• Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and techniques specific to aged care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work empathetically with elderly individuals, showing patience and respect
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates
• Ability to demonstrate and assist with exercises, including lifting and moving equipment
• Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field is preferred
