About the role

As an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) with VMCH, you will be providing a range of individual comprehensive assessments, interventions, and therapies to our elderly clients under the CHSP, and other government funding programs. You will provide a clinical oversight over our Occupational Therapists in the community space and partner with our elderly clients to identify their individualised goals, interventions, and therapies with the aim of providing them and their care givers with support, guidance, and recommendations to promote independence, safety, and positive health outcomes.

You will also:

  • Be a leader of change and provide clinical supervision of the Occupational Therapists
  • Support the Allied Health Team Leader in day-to-day operations
  • Provide high quality and person-centred OT services including assessment and development of comprehensive goal-oriented treatment and care plans, home assessment, equipment prescription and report writing. Demonstrate a range of intervention and therapy strategies in line with goals.
  • Complete detailed reports including home modification reports.
  • Communicate with consumers and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal and external referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team, and external funding providers including SWEP and Geat2Go.
  • Essential travel across various aged care planning regions and where operationally needed.

About you

As an experienced Senior OT, you can provide occupational therapy assessments and service delivery, including assessments and development of comprehensive plans and report writing. You have strong interpersonal skills and love engaging with a variety of stakeholders. You have strong communication skills and can maintain professional relationships. You can lead your OT team with a positive mindset and motivate your team members during changes to support the organisation. The ideal candidate would have had previous experience in the same/similar leadership position.

In addition, you have:

  • Tertiary Occupational Therapy qualification with current registration with AHPRA
  • Current Victorian driver’s license
  • Knowledge and experience of Government funded aged care programs including CHSP, HCP, STRC, SWEP Geat2GO and My Aged Care are desirable but not required.
  • Ability to work autonomously and have access to formal supervision and support.
