The position
As a Café Disability Support Worker at our Star of the Sea Café our social enterprise café aimed to help people build skills and experience in a real-life working environment, on their pathway to finding paid employment. These casual positions are located in Torquay at our aged care facility Star of the Sea,
Trainees will be supported by hospitality and disability support workers in serving residents of our aged care facility and retirement village and their families and visitors with delicious good and great coffee.

As a Café Disability Support Worker (DSW), you will provide hands-on mentoring to young people participating in our trainee program to build their self-confidence, barista and customer service skills and employability qualities. This position will ultimately support NDIS participants develop their personal & professional skills that will improve their independence and chances of securing employment.
What’s required
- Experience in the hospitality and/or disability sector
- Certificate IV in Disability (preferred but not essential)
- Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Experience and confidence operating a coffee machine (preferred)
- Confident and capable of teaching and training hospitality skills (essential)
- Outstanding customer service skills, communication, and time management skills
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
